Packrafting Adventure with Albania Rafting Group

Our adventure with the Albania Rafting Group began in the charming city of Berat, known for its stone houses and historic Ottoman architecture. As we left the city behind and started the journey toward Përmet, the road led us through some of Albania’s most breathtaking natural landscapes.

The route winds through the valley of the Osum River, flanked by rolling hills and dramatic cliffs. As we climbed higher, the scenery opened up to reveal sweeping views of green mountains, terraced hillsides, and quiet villages nestled into the slopes.
We passed olive groves, wildflower fields, and stretches of untouched forest. Occasionally, herds of sheep crossed the road, and the scent of pine and wild herbs filled the air. Every turn brought new panoramic views of river canyons, limestone ridges, and the distant peaks of Mountains, hinting at the wild beauty waiting for us in Përmet.

Along the way, we stopped at the charming Villa Goliku, where we were welcomed with a feast of traditional Albanian food. The warmth of the hosts made the experience even more special, as we shared dances and laughter with the owners in a truly authentic moment of connection.

From there, we continued to the stunning Vjosa River, one of Europe’s last wild rivers, where our first adventure awaited — Packrafting. Gliding through the crystal-clear waters, surrounded by lush greenery and dramatic cliffs, we felt immersed in untouched nature. It was the perfect blend of serenity and thrill. The adventure was led by experienced guides who are intimately familiar with the local area. Safety is a top priority for the guides. They ensured that our experience was fun, safe and memorable.

After the packrafting, we headed to The springs’ and dive into the stunning beauty of Benja Thermal Bath. The thermal waters of Benja (Bënjë) are natural sulfur springs with water rising up through deep tectonic cracks.

At night, our glamping accommodation in Përmet was waiting for us— a peaceful eco-lodge with cozy wooden houses nestled in nature. We enjoyed a delicious dinner under the stars and rested well in this sustainable haven.

The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, we geared up for our second adventure — rafting. With the rush of adrenaline and the roar of the river, we tackled wild currents, embraced the power of nature, and experienced the wilder side of Albania.

As our journey came to a close, we returned to Berat, where we shared a final dinner and rested in the scenic Castle Park, reflecting on an adventure filled with culture, nature, and unforgettable memories.
