A Taste of Tradition: Cooking Class at Castle Park Hotel, Berat.

“In Berat, every dish tells a story — slow-cooked, soul-fed.”
Nestled among the serene hills of Berat, Castle Park Hotel offers more than just stunning views and cozy accommodations—it invites guests to step into Albania’s rich culinary heritage through its immersive cooking class experience.
Furthermore, At Hotel Castle Park, slow food is more than a philosophy — it’s a way of life. Every dish invites you to slow down and savor meals prepared with love, local ingredients, and timeless recipes passed through generations. Here, every dish tells a story of the land, the season, and the people who prepare it.

During the class, guided by local chefs passionate about preserving traditional flavors, guests prepared four signature dishes that embody the essence of Berati cuisine. The experience began with Kulaç, a rustic, round bread made with simple ingredients but full of comforting flavor—perfectly paired with local cheese or honey.

Next came Börek, the beloved flaky pastry stuffed with a delicious blend of fresh herbs, cheese, or meat. In our recipe we used fresh spinachs and cheese. Each layer was carefully folded by hand, making the process as enjoyable as the result.
For the main course, guests learned how to prepare Berati Beef, a slow-cooked dish that showcases the depth of Albanian spices and cooking techniques. Rich, tender, and hearty, it brought the table together in a truly communal way.
Finally, the meal was sweetly concluded with Berati Katmari, a traditional dessert pastry, slightly crispy and golden on the outside, delicately soft within, often layered with nuts or a hint of sugar.
At the end of the cooking class, we sat down to enjoy a delicious dinner featuring all the dishes we had prepared. Each plate was beautifully presented, highlighting the care and tradition behind every recipe. Dining on the terrace, we savored the rich flavors in a joyful, relaxed atmosphere — surrounded by nature, fresh air, and the warm hospitality of the Castle Park Hotel.
